gbn reports on WLG member venue getting ready to host the 2018 Ryder Cup
Ahead of the biennial event Ryder Cup venue Le Golf National has renewed its long-term partnership with Club Car and will be supplied with 50 new Precedent i3 vehicles by the world’s largest manufacturer of small-wheel electric vehicles.
Key feature oft he new i3 is the innovative Visage system which provides golfers with precise shot and distance information, flyover video graphics and a live leaderboard during competitions. The connected mobile golf information system will also enable staff at the European Tour Destination to remotely control each car and optimise course maintenance.
Online magazine gbn quotes Paul Armitage, General Manager at Le Golf National on the subject: “The opportunity for our golfers to have the information on each hole, along with the ability to email themselves their score card to review at home from the golf car, will help to further enhance the on-course experience for all our customers.”
The magazine further reports on Justine Dreher as winner of the special occasion par-3 contest. With a tee shot that finished only 6cm from the hole, the Ladies European Tour professional won a commemorative Ryder Cup vehicle provided by Club Car.
Since the re-opening of the famed Albatros Course, where the French Open had been played since 1991, many Pros and Amateurs have come to face the Albatros to get a feel of the Ryder Cup experience before the stars will come to play there in 2018. Since the refurbishment, the course offers a trying combination of traditional links style with the modern features of target golf. Especially the spectacular final 4 holes surrounded by water hazards make the Albatros an absolutely unique and challenging experience requiring golfers to use every club in the bag.
