GBN reports on the 2nd step of the five-AA Red Star golf club’s renovation programme

Succeeding the reconstruction of the first 9 holes of Stoke Parks acclaimed Colt Course, the cherished 5-star resort is getting ready to invite its members to their first experience on the renovated back 9 – the Alison Course. An occasion the online magazine gbn acknowledges with a telling article on the iconic venue.

Stoke Park with its impressive eighteenth century mansion is famous for its history just as much as it is for the relentless quality of its 27 hole parkland golf course. Reconstructing and rebunkering each nine-hole course in consecutive winters to always have 18 holes open for play not only demanded the investion of a substantial seven-figure sum. The management and construction company both were extremely careful to maintain „the feel and aesthetic that Harry Colt was kind enough to leave us“, as Stoke Park’s Director of Golf, Stuart Collier put it. Regarding the great success of the renovation of its first nine holes in the winter of 2015/2016, the team was confident about attaining the same high level of artistic design and playability on the Alison, however.

“The work on the Alison will, arguably, raise the quality level of the course to the best it’s been since the very early days, 100-odd years ago”, Collier presumes in the article published on gbn. And given the fact, that Stoke Park is one of just two five-AA Red Star golf clubs in England already, the clubs members will probably prove him right, once the course is reopened to them on April 21.

The effort of ensuring that a clubs course and golf-relevant facilities are at peak condition for the 21st century golfer plays a major role in being eligible for a membership to WLG. Stoke Park has entered the association in 2015 and won the World of Leading Golf “Best Newcomer” award of that year.

The superiority the club, which is set within 300 acres of beautiful private parkland estate just 35 minutes west of London, demonstrates time and again is exemplary for what WLG stands for and hopes to make demanding golfers from all over the world aware of.
