WEIMARER LAND SPA & GOLFRESORT JOINS WLG
Indulgent German getaway destination masters Mystery Tests

Only in 2006 did resort host Matthias Grafe buy the former GDR agricultural business including a completely neglected and derelict to turn it a hospitable and stylish retreat for demanding golfers. Today, two very challenging courses cover most of the 150 hectares of the historic estate. The third, Bobby Jones, Championship Course is a mix of the most demanding holes of the Feininger and the Goethe Courses.
While both 18-hole courses stretch across more or less undulating and therefore quite tricky grounds, a number of beautifully designed water hazards characterise the Feininger Course as opposed to the Goethe’s abundance of bunkers. The Goethe also boasts with Weimarer Land’s most memorable hole, the tee off being set on a hill while the island green expects to be struck further down 250 m in altitude. Given the impeccable course conditions as well as the landscaping and diversity of the playing grounds, it is no wonder the Weimarer Land Spa & GolfResort already received its first accolades in 2012: Just two years after opening the courses to the public, the German GOLFMAGAZIN claimed the place to be Germany’s best new golf course.
After successfully introducing Weimarer Land as a golf club, the historic four-sided farmhouse was carefully reconstructed and turned into an endearing and luxurious hotel, which opened in 2013. A spacious and atmospheric Spa, the Lindentherme, complements the establishment inviting guests to stay and enjoy the reclusiveness of the resort for a while longer. Not to mention the culturally rich Weimar and other great spots of interest that aren’t very far from there.
