Norways oldest golf club accredited for membership

Known mainly for its importance as fishing port and oil and energy capital, the city of Stavanger is also home to one of the most coveted golf clubs in Northern Europe, the Stavanger Golfklubb. The south-western region of Norway is studded with natural scenic attractions, amongst them the world famous Pulpit Rock with its stunning views across the fjord. So it is no wonder, the golf course designed by Fred Smith is a natural highlight in itself. Making their way across the undulating grounds by Lake Stokkavan, the 18 holes are a tight affair being bordered by the forest on one and the water on the other side. A precise, well thought out game is therefore a must from beginning to end.

While course conditions also depend on the weather, the Stavanger management is adamant not only on keeping the grounds in top shape, but also on keeping up with a modern golfers demands: By the end of 2009, a new drainage system has been installed, all greens replaced and many holes rebunkered to ensure golf at the highest level. To spite the rough climate, Stavanger Golfklubb now also offers the use of a new a Trackman 4 simulator with a multifunctional software, so members and guests may keep up or even strengthen their golfing skills.
