Historically intriguing Czech club becomes WLG member

History, architecture, surroundings – there are many things unique about Royal Golf Club Mariánské Lázně: ‘Royal’, because Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II chose it to be so; ‘Golf’, because it was built and opened in 1905 to heed to the wishes of the international spa guests of the then renowned Marienbad; and ‘Club’, because the beauty and comforts of the clubhouse quickly turned the establishment into a popular social meeting place.

Given its popularity, the original 9-hole course, that had been designed by the Scottish Professional Robert Doig of Musselburg, was extended to 18 holes in 1923 already. And despite having to face the low esteem most communists held for the sport, the faithful Mariánské Lázně members and supporters managed to uphold the values of the golf and the establishment itself so today’s visitors get a genuine taste of what recuperating in a spa town was like 100 years and more ago.
